Jewelry Care

Make it last a lifetime.

Caring for your jewelry ensures that it will last for years to come. It is our aim to create pieces that can be passed down by generations, which is only achievable through proper care and attention.

All jewelry should be handled with care.  Make sure your jewelry is worn responsibly, avoiding any intense activity like gardening, exercising, and cleaning.

Precious metals and gemstones can react poorly with various chemicals and cosmetic products.  Use caution when subjecting your jewelry to various substances and never swim or bath while wearing jewelry.

To ensure longevity and avoid tangles, make sure your jewelry is the last accessory you put on before leaving home and the first you take off.  Be mindful of necklaces and earrings when dealing with long hair, bag straps, scarves, and hats.

To clean your jewelry at home, it is recommended to use a soft nail brush or toothbrush to lightly scrub the piece with warm soapy water.  Commercial cleaners have their own usage instructions and limitations with what gemstones they can be used on.  Make sure to consult any usage instructions before using cleaning products on your jewelry.

Oxidized silver is not a permanent finish.  It will change over time and reveal the shiny silver beneath the surface.  Abrasion, skin chemistry, and cleaning all factor in to how long the finish will last.  If you have a DGFJ piece that you would like to be re-oxidized, please visit our Returns and Repairs page.
